This role will be to support major refurbishment projects at Cernavoda Nuclear Generating Station.

 

This exciting opportunity offers the potential to further develop Kinectrics’ capabilities and expertise in large-scale refurbishment projects, as well as expand the company’s presence in Romania. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring project activities for large refurbishment projects and will interface closely with the client and 3rd party contractors.

 

General Accountabilities

  • Ensures that the project is completed in compliance with the budget, planning and applicable quality requirements, while managing all the risks that affect its development
  • Approves the execution schedule of the refurbishment project
  • Ensures compliance with the applicable standards of quality assurance in all activities associated with the project, including those of design, acquisition, and implementation of work
  • Ensures the preparation and performance of the contracts and acquisitions necessary for the execution of the refurbishment project and participates in negotiations with suppliers
  • Manages the risk management process, including the identification of new risks or changes in the risk profile, the development of mitigation strategies, and residual risk reporting
  • Ensures the periodic reporting of the status of the refurbishment project to the Cernavoda senior leadership
  • Ensures the supervision of general contractors (from the execution contracts of the type of engineering/design, procurement, constructions – EPC)
  • Establishes / modifies the existing processes, policies, practices in order to create the interface and facilitate a professional relationship between the contractors and the plant staff
  • Establishes / modifies the existing processes, policies, and procedures in order to ensure the execution of the work efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the approved work plans / packages and the applicable codes / standards, taking into account the state of the plant
  • Coordinates the preparation of detailed solutions, technical specifications for the acquisition of equipment, components, and services in accordance with the project schedule
  • Coordinates the preparation of the execution packages for refurbishment activities
  • Ensures that regulatory and authorization requirements are complied with
  • Coordinates the activities associated with obtaining the environmental agreement for the U1 refurbishment project and the implementation of the environmental requirements, applicable to the realization of the project
  • Ensures the coordination of obtaining all the authorizations necessary for the implementation of the project
  • Approves the addition and elimination of activities for the purpose of shutdown for refurbishment
  • Ensures the maintenance of the control of the design configuration during the execution of the project and the proper updating of the design documentation
  • Ensures the maintenance of the control of the operating configuration during the execution of the project and the proper updating of the operating documentation
  • Provides the necessary technical support for the issuance of training materials, especially those for the operating staff

 

Selection Criteria

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences is required & at least two years of experience in the field of completed studies
  • Direct involvement as a Project Director in a CANDU Refurbishment Project/Organization
  • MBA from an accredited institution would be an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset
  • 15 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience working with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
  • Comprehensive knowledge of site outage/installation/maintenance of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Demonstrated capability to manage and lead
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality
  • High sense of personal accountability
  • Romanian Language proficiency would be beneficial but is not a requirement

 

This role requires full-time relocation to Cernavoda, Romania for an extended duration. The successful candidate must have a willingness to relocate to Romania for project execution.
