Overview:

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We're seeking a motivated and skilled Field Technologist to join our Lines Asset Management – Field Services Service Line. This role offers a dynamic blend of field and office responsibilities, focusing on overhead conductor inspections, conductor vibration monitoring, tower vibration monitoring, and structure and hardware condition assessments. As we expand our service line, you'll be at the forefront of cutting-edge projects, making a significant impact in the industry.

 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Conducting Cutting-Edge Projects: Play a key role in overhead conductor inspections, conductor and tower vibration monitoring, and structure and hardware condition assessments. Stay ahead as new field services are introduced.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with our Service Line Lead and project managers in both field and lab environments. Be part of a collaborative team delivering high-quality testing and inspection services.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a technical resource on projects of varying complexity. Contribute to achieving defined objectives in scope, quality, time, and cost.
  • Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. Contribute to contract administration, including estimates of costs, schedules, and required resources.
  • Innovation and Development: Ensure our services remain at the forefront of the industry. Participate in product/service development projects and support technology integration and testing offerings in new market locations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare high-quality work procedures, test reports, and inspection reports with actionable recommendations based on results achieved.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in the preparation, revision, and maintenance of internal procedures to streamline operations.
  • Travel and Field Duties: Embrace field duty and travel, with 30%-50% travel expected. Work at customer sites throughout the US and occasionally worldwide to initiate new services and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Mechanical or electrical Technician or Technologist diploma (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of related test laboratory experience or equivalent advanced education.
  • Transmission Line Knowledge: Understanding of transmission line components is required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Safety Dedication: Absolute dedication to safety and safety practices.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical capabilities with a willingness to self-learn or work under supervision.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer focus and organizational skills. Deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage time and budget, multi-task, and understand priorities.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and in a team situation with technical and engineering staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Experience in solving complex problems requiring considerable investigation and integration of technical fields.
  • Quality Assurance: Experience with projects involving various QA programs (ISO 9001).
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of common hand tools, power tools, mechanical and electrical theory, testing standards, LabView, NI Instruments for data acquisition, and experience in an R&D environment is considered an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Proven computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility with schedule and travel requirements due to the fluidity of projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Basic understanding of continuous improvement techniques; experience with workplace organization.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Motor Vehicle Skill: Holding a valid driver’s license allowing for the independent operation of motor vehicles.
  • Physical Fitness: Physically fit with the ability to move/lift/rearrange heavy items up to 50 lbs; ability to stand for extended periods, crouch, kneel, etc.
