Position: Electro-Mechanical Technologist/Testing Lab

About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the expansion of the Kinectrics Arcwear Division in Louisville, KY working in the our brand new testing lab facility performing electrical and mechanical testing of transmission line equipment.
You will perform routine investigations and tests on transmission line components in accordance with established technical work instructions, industry standards, and client procedures. Perform lab and field tests using predominantly standard techniques and processes. Assemble test setups with data acquisition systems. Prepare progress reports and other reports such as “routine” test reports.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct mechanical and electrical lab and field tests, and service equipment.
- Perform routine mechanical and electrical tests, investigations and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, non-destructive evaluation, and material science.
- Perform sample preparations (e.g. fiber splicing, epoxy resins, conductor sectioning), job safety analysis, custom test setup, and execute tests.
- Adhere to Kinectrics quality assurance protocol.
- Assist with non-destructive testing, field acceptance testing and field monitoring devices.
- Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages.
- Take responsibility for care and maintenance of the test labs and related LAM facilities.
- Provide mechanical and electrical expertise for testing projects, for example selection of appropriate test equipment, safe and efficient test set-up, identification of appropriate test standards and methods etc.
- Prepare reports and ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices.

- Perform shipping, receiving, calibration, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment & supplies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Mechanical or Electrical (or Mechatronics) Technology; or equivalent level of education and work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years related experience or equivalent advanced education in the area of Mechanical engineering technology.
- Requires knowledge of mechanical theory, electrical theory and testing standards to understand the requirements for mechanical testing of transmission components.
- Requires experience with mechanical and electrical testing practices, procedures and safety standards.
- Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management, such as Microsoft Excel, and drafting programs (AutoCad, Inventor, Solid Works etc.)
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems (preferably Labview based).
- Basic understanding of continuous improvement techniques; experience with workplace organization.
- General experience operating hand tools, drill press, saw, grinder, hydraulic pumps etc.
- General understanding of transmission line components and related tests (e.g. preparing epoxy resin dead-ends, vibration measurements, tensile strength tests, electrical measurements, compression dead-end installations, etc.)
- General understanding of fiber optic components and related tests (e.g. fiber preparation, attenuation measurements, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively both alone and in teams.
- Must be self-motivated, and have strong prioritizing and time management skills.
- Motor vehicle: must hold a valid driver’s license that allows for operating motor vehicles independently; forklift license is preferred.
- Physical Demands: ability to move/lift/rearrange heavy items up to 50 lb; standing for extended period, crouching, kneeling etc.
- Ability to travel internationally and flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
