Mechanical Engineer (Engineer III/IV range)

Kinectrics provides a full range of technical services needed to address the unique engineering challenges faced by nuclear utilities today. As a responsible engineer you will work in cross-disciplinary teams on client projects involving design, modification and analysis with primary focus on design of modifications to existing power generation facilities and plant mechanical systems for today's leading energy providers across the country.  You will support project teams involved in all aspects of design, including specifications and selection, preparation of calculations, engineering packages and technical reports to support client requirements. Occasional travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for coordination and field verification of designs required. Kinectrics offers flexible WFH/Office schedule.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Completes engineering projects by analyzing problems, organizing and controlling project elements.
  • Analyzes problems, investigates and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes., etc.
  • Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Collaborates with team members on projects to determine priorities and implications on work of others.
  • Provides effective solutions and define appropriate deliverables that the client will need to solve the issue.
  • Engages customer in detailed technical discussions regarding identification and acquisition of design inputs, task scopes and methodology/approach.  Effectively able to discuss project results with customer and potential subsequent additions to contract to support applicable scope adders. 
  • Approves work schedules and makes recommendations for increased resources and special equipment.
  • Exercises mature professional judgment in identifying the implications of experimental results.
  • Provides detailed technical guidance and direction for junior level Engineers.
  • Leads on small-medium projects or serve as technical lead on complex projects.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years progressively more responsible pertinent experience.
  • Possesses a technical mastery of engineering principles.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with clients, colleagues, and colleagues within other disciplines, project managers, and management.
  • Ability to work effectively under limited supervision.
  • Requires high degree of professional knowledge and has the technical ability to perform review of calculations and design deliverables.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, and CAD Software.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e. without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future)
