Financial Analyst – US HVT Operations
About the Job
Reporting to the U.S. Business Analyst, you will prepare budgets, coordinate month end closing, provide insight into monthly and annual financial results, business unit costs, and budget variances to the VP Engineering & Operations and the Director of Business Decision Support & Financial Performance.
Responsibilities:
- Support the KAES High Voltage Testing Business Unit's financial operations by providing timely and accurate reporting and business analysis that will be used to better enable the division to grow the profitability of the business line
- Prepare and coordinate budgets, business plans and forecasts
- Be the SAP business process owner for the PS (Project Systems) module
- Coordinate finance activities for month end, year-end, etc.
- Apply appropriate revenue recognition to the projects
- Analyze trends and data used in preparing forecasts of expenses and cash flows for the division
- Review and analyze financial results and variances from budget for KAES and make suggestions for improvements or cost savings
- Review and investigate general ledger information and provide appropriate charge numbers
- Provide both month-to- month financial data and trends and explain financial processes to engineering staff
- Assist in the preparation of business cases for fixed asset acquisitions for KAES
- Assist in financial presentations for Kinectrics AES.
- Prepare costing and billing analysis for CEO department manager presentations.
- Act as backup support for other business analysts for vacation, illness etc.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience at a senior level in an accounting department.
- Advanced knowledge/experience working with SAP is required (PS, SD, FICO)
- Requires a strong knowledge of accounting, finance and economics
- Requires knowledge of business systems, controls and reporting systems
- Requires experience in budgeting, accounting policies and procedures, systems and costing
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- High degree of attention to detail and ability to self-check work required.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail and an ability to work independently
- Proven ability to respond within short time constraints and meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualification
- A four-year university education or equivalent in business, finance, accounting, plus further concentrated studies in related areas
- CPA Designation preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP under ASPE/IFRS and US GAAP
- A period of at least 5 - 7 years relevant work experience
