Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

Kinectrics is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) to lead the planning and delivery of complex engineering projects in a regulated environment, across all lifecycle phases - from proposal development through project close-out. The PM will be accountable for managing scope, schedule, cost, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

This role is part of the Design & Engineering Services (DES) team and will primarily support a range of Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Waste Management projects. Success in this role requires strong coordination skills, disciplined project controls, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to successful outcomes.

  • Apply advanced project management expertise to ensure effective planning and execution of projects, including management of scope, schedule, cost, performance, safety, communications, resources, procurement, risk, and quality.
  • Lead multidisciplinary projects with significant scope, complexity, and duration, addressing a broad range of technical and commercial issues with meaningful revenue and industry impact.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, independent judgment, and professional credibility, recognized by peers and clients as a practical, innovative, and highly capable Project Manager.
  • Act as the primary interface with clients and key stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and support the growth of Kinectrics’ business capabilities.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams, including Design Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Facility Staff, Procurement, and Construction, on complex and high-profile matters.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and resolve complex project risks and issues.
  • Provide accurate, timely project information to Kinectrics management, project teams, and clients through proposals, reports, recommendations, and presentations.
  • Develop innovative technical and project delivery solutions that extend beyond established practices to meet evolving client needs.
  • Manage vendor performance and support effective interdepartmental coordination to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensure projects are supported by robust, integrated schedules, including critical path analysis, cost loading, Earned Value Analysis (EVA), logic ties, constraints, milestones, and coding.
  • Maintain historical project data to support future cost and schedule estimating and impact analysis.
  • Independently plan, develop, write, and present major project proposals.
  • Establish and communicate Project Execution Plans that clearly define roles, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Provide mentorship and work direction to junior staff and review complex deliverables for technical and procedural accuracy.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • A four-year university degree in Engineering (Electrical/I&C, Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, and/or) or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience independently managing multidisciplinary projects with significant scope and complexity, demonstrating strong leadership and project management capability. Candidates with less experience but strong qualifications may be considered for a developmental role.
  • Working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to Nuclear power plants, skid-based designs, or international power projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to engage effectively in both formal and informal settings.
  • Strong ability to quickly understand technical and business processes, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proven capability to independently prepare and present information to diverse stakeholder groups.  
  • Demonstrated strengths in advanced problem solving, conflict resolution, change management, and decision making.
  • High level of personal accountability and ownership.
  • Experience with project accounting and scheduling tools such as SAP, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Assets:
    • Project management certification (PMP, CAPM).
    • Eligibility for security clearance for nuclear site access.
    • Professional Engineer (PEO) designation or eligibility.
  • Travel to multiple locations (including Greater Toronto Area, Kincardine and/or Tiverton) may be required.

 

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
