Senior or Specialist Electrical Engineer (E4/E5)

About the Job
To deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows:
- Provide electrical power distribution engineering analysis for new and existing nuclear power plants.
- Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.
- Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
- Perform engineering design and analysis following established Engineering design and change control procedures.
- Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable, and electrical equipment selection.
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation, and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Provide field support for design and design modifications, including provision of field engineering.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support new build projects and existing operating units.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary design and technical projects.
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited school.
- 8-10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering.
- Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants.
- Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades including necessary system protection/system stability and relaying.
- In depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants.
- Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with rigorous engineering change control processes and application of QA programs.
- Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to nuclear power plants, skid-based designs, or international power projects.
- Experience with Small Modular Reactor or Advance Reactor designs is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions.
- P.E. license highly preferred.
- Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of customers.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
