Senior or Specialist Mechanical Engineer (E4/E5)

As a Kinectrics Engineer your work will help maintain a safe and sustainable zero-emission energy source, providing engineering solutions for traditional nuclear as well as some of the newest technologies in nuclear today!  As part of our growing design team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design modification packages for mechanical systems and/or components for nuclear power plants.

About the Job

  • Completes engineering projects by analyzing problems, organizing and controlling project elements.
  • Provides expert advice on design processes or construction methods.
  • Formulates and directs investigations or prototype, model and system studies, analyzing and interpreting the data obtained and recommending practical application of results.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform review of complex calculations, design deliverables.
  • Analyzes problems, investigates and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes., etc.
  • Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Collaborates with team members on projects to determine priorities and implications on work of others.
  • Provides effective solutions and defines appropriate deliverables that the client will need to solve the issue.
  • Approves work schedules and makes recommendations for increased resources and special equipment.      
  • Engages customer in detailed technical discussions regarding identification and acquisition of design inputs, task scopes and methodology/approach.  Effectively able to discuss project results with customer and potential subsequent additions to contract to support applicable scope adders. 
  • Provides detailed technical guidance and direction for junior level Engineers.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • 8-10+ years relevant work experience is considered necessary.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
  • Knowledge and implementation of client Engineering Change Control process of nuclear power generation utilities is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be team player.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
  • Occasional travel to client locations for plant walk downs, interface with clients and to make presentations.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
