Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
This role is to lead a new team focused on communications, engagement, and stakeholder relations as it relates to energy projects in Canada and internationally. You will be responsible for growing and leading a team of specialists focused on socio-economic studies, communications strategy, community and indigenous consultation, public engagement, government relations, and environmental sustainability. This section in Kinectrics will work closely with existing teams in the areas of licensing, nuclear new build, and major energy projects to provide fully integrated services to our customers.
The role will require highly effective communication skills and strong leadership acumen. A successful candidate will be recognized in their field of expertise and carry a reputation as a thought leader in the industry and communities of interest.
The manager will be responsible for establishing a growth plan and executing on that plan to achieve business targets. Success will be measured upon meeting targets while developing and maintaining positive
client relationships and supervising the technical execution of projects to ensure the delivery of high quality, high value services.
You will bring to this position deep knowledge of government policy, best practices associated with environmental sustainability programs, Reconciliation Action Plans, Indigenous consultation and engagement, and technical knowledge of key Acts and Regulations including the Impact Assessment Act.
The position will be located at one of Kinectrics’ existing facilities in Canada (SK, ON, or NB) depending on the selected candidate and best business fit.
Accountability Objective:
Working closely with the Director, Licensing & New Technology, you will be responsible for the following key aspects:
- Manage complex and unique relationships with existing and new clients to bring in orders that meet or exceed targets.
- Oversee a diverse portfolio of projects. Projects are to be completed in a timely manner and profitably ensuring excellent customer service and quality.
- Lead and motivate team members, achieving effective utilization of resources.
- Support technical mentoring and development of employees.
- Seek to grow the scope of services provided by the section.
- Work closely with other business units across Kinectrics to maximize opportunities.
- Ensure that the business strategy is well developed and based on good market and competitor knowledge. The agreed strategy is to be clearly articulated and communicated.
- Attend and participate in industry forums and represent Kinectrics business interests in a positive manner that encourages growth of services and revenue streams.
Major Responsibilities: (This is not intended to be a complete list and other duties may be assigned by management)
Customer Relationships and Orders
- Lead contact with customers and other external stakeholders. Manage complex relationships and conflicts/issues.
- Ensure effective routes to market, including personal sales, and develop new business opportunities in line with orders target
- Build relationships with and influence current and potential customers for continued and new work
- Provide feedback and client intelligence (i.e., quality, customer satisfaction, safety, technical problems, and competitive intelligence)
- Identify sales leads and work with sales team in sales planning, follow through and close
- Provide technical sales support through proposals and presentations
- Identify and support service and market development priorities
Delivery and Profitability
- Ensure personal and section project commitments and related technical work are completed on time, within budget, and meet standards for quality and value
- Ensure effective project management within section
- Ensure client satisfaction
Leadership
- Facilitate internal relationships and effective use of resources
- Responsible for staffing and resourcing decisions, including scheduling and assigning work
- Performs or support managerial functions such as hiring, promotion, performance reviews, pay increases, staff development and disciplinary actions in accordance with established policies and procedures

What You Need to Succeed
Educational & Technical Competencies:
Education:
- Requires completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field of study such as sociology, economics, political science (others will be considered). Post-graduate or other relevant vocational training is considered an asset.

- Public communications, stakeholder engagement, or similar experience – 5 years (+/-)
- Community engagement, indigenous consultation and engagement - 3 years (+/-)

- Customer relationship management or Marketing/Business Development - 3 years (+/-)
- Supervisory Experience – 2-5 years (+/-)
Travel to other Kinectrics’ locations, client sites, and key industry events will be required (10-20%, or in accordance with business planning).
