Reports to:                          Maintenance Supervisor

Hours per week:                 40 (this is a shift worker position, shifts may be scheduled 8-10 or 12 hours in duration, day, afternoon and night shifts. Rotating Shifts, overtime and weekend work may be required)

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

Kinectrics is seeking a Maintenance Technician to assist with maintaining an industrial laundry facility. This position is a key role for the Kinectrics Tri-county Facilities, with the important task of working to maximize facility and equipment uptime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  General Accountabilities include;

 

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
  • Work with maintenance manager to quickly resolve equipment issues, service equipment, and implement contingency
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting industrial equipment, systems and components including washers, dryers, air compressors, conveyor systems and boilers, etc.         
  • Performing preventive/predictive maintenance; resolving safety concerns; performing indoor and outdoor housekeeping; maintaining inventory supplies; preparing maintenance records; identifying, evaluating and monitoring work performed by inside and outside service companies; responding to emergency alarms;
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections on equipment, building and grounds
  • Ensure production equipment is functioning properly / troubleshoot and repair equipment to ensure maximum equipment uptime, availability, and reliability to meet or exceed the facilities KPI measures.
  • Service, Calibrate and/or supervise the repair or installation of equipment, processes or products including setup, takedown or relocate production equipment;               
  • Ensure all assigned job requisitions are completed effectively and in a timely manner;
  • Prepare routine and non-routine technical reports
  • Work in conjunction with plant personnel to modify and improve on processing and packaging equipment;
  • Occasionally supervise, train and co-ordinate the work of others including safety.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
  • Occasional travel may be required to other Kinectrics and client sites
  • Other general duties as assigned

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • Completion of a three-year community college program in a specific discipline or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum 8 years related experience or equivalent advanced education
  • Red Seal certification in either Electrical, Millwright or Pipefitter trades, required
  • Certificate of Qualification in applicable field preferred
  • Basic understanding of PLC logic and programming
  • Experience repairing industrial processing equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong multi-discipline technical skills in industrial and manufacturing environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
  • Experience in commercial laundry would be considered an asset
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements
  • An understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and safety best practices
  • Knowledge of Radiological Safety would be considered an asset
  • Experience with reading and understanding written process and procedures
  • Experience with and ability to read building blueprints, mechanical drawings
  • Basic Microsoft Office Computer skills
  • Ability to stand for majority of scheduled shift
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a valid nuclear site security clearance

 

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
