Accountabilities: How you will make an impact
- Safely and competently operate heavy duty vehicles to transport dangerous goods, and equipment in compliance with the pertinent regulations and procedures.
- Perform tasks associated with the provision of a carrier (road transportation) service. Applies load securement devices and coverings in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
- Perform trip inspections on assigned vehicles in compliance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
- Maintain an accurate, detailed, and legible driver duty log to ensure regulatory compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and other applicable legislation.
- Complete and maintain all other required trip documentation.
- Perform the carrier response functions in the event of a transportation emergency in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
- Support and/or direct other in support of the loading/unloading duties.
- Perform maintenance activities not requiring formal trades training & qualifications.
- Perform duties normally associated with civil maintenance trades up to the level trained, as required.
- Accountable for the health, safety and well-being of self and others, in accordance with technical/ operating procedures and standards.
What you need to succeed:
- Must hold a High School diploma as the minimum educational requirement.
- Prior Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and/or Class 7 training, would be an asset.
- Must hold a valid and active AZ Driver's License in good standing.
- Must have a clear driver's abstract.
- 5 years minimum concurrent experience driving a transport truck.
- 1 year experience in the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) experience
- Preference given to individuals with Forklift experience.
- Completion of and ability to successfully maintain Air Brakes Certification(s).
- Required to adhere to the Ministry of Transportation requirements including medical assessments to maintain AZ driver’s license.
- Ability to work from heights (climbing ladders, scaffolding, stairs).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision or within a team environment.
- Proficient skills with desktop and onboard computers, trip recorders, onboard GPS, and telecommunications equipment.
- Flexibility to working shifts, to stay overnight or do overtime work, as required
- Ability to obtain and successfully maintain Nuclear Site Security Clearances
