Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
- Perform electrical tests, investigations and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines.
- Conducts and directs projects with a high degree of independence.
- Perform standard and nonstandard field and / or laboratory testing investigations; provide support in laboratory or field environments by conducting experiments, conducting tests or servicing equipment; quality control.
- Assist with field commissioning and acceptance testing of electrical power equipment.
- Assist in assembly and maintenance of various equipment, processes, systems and development of test methods
- Utilize advanced computer systems for data acquisition and analysis of test results, including interpretation and recommendations.
- Write routine and non-routine technical reports.
- Frequently supervise, train and co-ordinate the work of and with other staff.
- Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
- Perform clerical duties, such as word processing excel sheets, maintaining filing and record systems, photocopying and emailing.
- Perform routine processes and duties such as local and international shipping, receiving, inventory management, equipment maintenance, calibration support and quality control, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
- Completion of a three-year community college engineering/science program related to Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent training and experience
- A minimum period of 8 years related testing and diagnostic experience on client’s sites or equivalent advanced education
- Requires solid knowledge of electrical theory and testing standards to understand the requirements for High Voltage testing of electrical equipment.
- Requires strong experience with LV, MV and HV testing practices, procedures and safety standards.
- Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management, analysis and reporting, etc.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Medium Voltage, High Voltage, and GIS terminations.
- Hipot Testing and diagnosis of power cables systems including DC, AC, VLF, DAC, LIRA, and Tan delta, TDR, OTDR, DS and SVL testing.
- Must be able to read and interpret substation single line diagrams and control drawings
- Working at heights in excess of 80’ and confined space adherence requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel and work in a field environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to exercise discretion and judgement in resolving problems
- Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis
