Kinectrics is searching for an intermediate or senior Analyst/Engineer to join the Fuel Channel Integrity & Operations (FCIO) service line who will be responsible for providing support to the FCIO team. This includes preparation of FC inspection and life cycle management material, fitness for service assessments, material behavior modelling, risk informed assessments, emergent outage support, component design tasks, material procurement NCR disposition, component installation issue resolution, and other work supporting long-term component design, procurement, installation and fitness for service for our clients.
Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide support to clients in the nuclear sector in areas of life cycle management, engineering program development, component condition assessments, and other work related to long-term component integrity.
- Assist in conducting projects in conjunction with senior engineers or supervisor
- Assist in analysis of technical results and report writing
- Prepare technical reports suitable for submission to clients and to nuclear regulators (for example, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission).
- Ensure clients and supervisors are provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates.
- Assist in developing proposals for internal/external customers and communicating/coordinating contracts with outside contractors/suppliers when required
- Provide project management support for small to medium size projects as required.
What You Need to Succeed
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the nuclear power industry is required, including some experience working on-site at a nuclear power plant.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science, or equivalent is required.
- Eligibility for PEO License is an asset, however candidates with suitable experience and capabilities ineligible for PEO licensure are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of CANDU plant systems, major components, various degradation mechanisms, inspection requirements, applicable codes and standards (e.g., N285.4, N285.5, N285.8, REGDOC-2.6.3), and familiarity with FCs.
- Knowledge and/or experience with various QA programs (ISO 9001, N299.1, N285.0).
- Familiarity with key client (e.g., Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power) information systems (e.g., Maximo, Asset Suite, SAP, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience with the Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) process for reporting deviations from technical specification; including creating dispositions or recommending actions necessary to disposition issues raised in NCRs.
- Ability to review and understand various technical documents (e.g., technical specifications, design drawings, flow sheets, design reports, qualification/test reports, technical basis assessments, etc.).
- Excellent technical writing skills, with the ability to develop reports on various technical subjects including engineering programs/plans (Life Cycle Management Plans, Periodic inspection Programs), component condition assessments and other technical subjects as required.
- Experience coordinating with vendors and subject matter experts to address technical issues.
- Ability to work to a specific scope of work, including understanding and meeting expectations for cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently, both in team settings and individually.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- A self-starter driven to tackle challenging problems on their own without continual oversight/guidance. Instinct to attempt to solve problems or understand underlying principles on their own before approaching industry experts for guidance.
- Comfortable adjusting work priorities to reflect industry demands related to Fuel Channel integrity (a life-limiting component subject to high levels of client & regulatory scrutiny and changing landscape).
