About the Position
- Business Area: Transmission and Distribution Technologies (TDT)
- Department: Distribution and Asset Management (DAM), Rotating Machines (RM)
- Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON, On-site
- Term Length: 12 months
- Discipline(s) Required: Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering program
- Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $20.78-$25.67 per hour. Please note, the salary information provided is intended to be used as a guideline. Final rate offered will vary upon candidate’s prior co-op/work experience, years of study completed, relevant skills, as well as internal equity considerations.
How You Will Make an Impact
This opportunity involves responsibilities including but not limited to:
Assist technologists and electrical engineers in carrying out customer related projects
- Carry out technical work in the laboratory under supervision of senior technologistsSupport with test sample preparations, test setup, and carrying out simpler tests
- Assisting with Diagnostic testing, Thermal Cycling and Voltage Endurance test projects, complete data sheets and possibly write templated reports
- Assist with templated/routine data reductions
- Perform other duties as required
- Perform all duties in safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures
What You Need to Succeed
- Currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering program requiring a co-op placement
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to work co-operatively with a variety of staff
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team situation
- Must be able to perform moderate physical tasks, physically fit: ability to move/lift items up to 40-50 lbs.
- High level of initiative
- Experience with hand tools is an asset
- Basic computer skills are required (Microsoft Office, CAD programs, MATLAB and Python)
- Familiarity with data acquisition programs or systems is an asset
