Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Take the lead in delivering high-value technical solutions across the nuclear sector, guiding a team of engineers and specialists to success. You’ll:
- Conduct safety analysis using state-of-the-art nuclear safety analysis and shielding assessment computer software
- Development of new analytical methods and models
- The preparation of technical documents in support of regulatory submissions
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects
- Stay current with developments within your field of expertise
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ensuring full regulatory compliance and effective issue resolution.
- Driving investigations and corrective actions with a focus on root cause and prevention.
- Implementing human performance tools to promote a culture of accountability.
What You Need to Succeed
- A four-year university degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics; postgraduate degree(s) considered to be an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in the area of nuclear safety assessment, although exceptional graduates will be considered.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards is desired, along with a strong understanding of and commitment to meeting superior quality assurance requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian nuclear regulations including implementing requirements in CNSC REGDOC-2.4.1 and -2.4.4 along with relevant codes and standards such as CSA N286 and N288 series. Experience in other jurisdictions is considered an asset.
- Preference for candidates with working experience in radiation safety analysis industry toolsets (e.g.,SCALE, MCNP, Attila, Microshield).
- Experience with Windows & LINUX operating systems required.
- Software development and debugging preferred.
- Possess a sound foundation in nuclear safety methods and applications expertise, products and services.
- A strong understanding of CANDU or other nuclear power plant design, operation and regulatory requirements.
- Flexibility to perform work over a wide range of areas for both operating and new facilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality.
- Strong initiative, learning agility, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PEO) in Ontario or other Canadian province, or eligibility for licensure therein is an asset.
- Ability to obtain (or currently hold) relevant nuclear security clearance(s). Clearance applications will be facilitated by Kinectrics, as required.
- Willingness to travel to temporary work locations as required to support the role (10-25% including, but not limited to GTA, Bruce County, other Kinectrics offices, international) is an asset.
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
