Position:                               Engineer/Scientist

Location:                              375/393 University Avenue, Toronto, ON

 

 

General Accountabilities

To deliver nuclear safety expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position

are as follows:

  • Requires coordination with clients and vendors to determine system design, hardware, software requirements and establish necessary specifications for purchases.
  • Some travel to site locations within Toronto/GTA and interaction with site IT organizations is required periodically.
  • Interface effectively with other staff and client on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Act as a task leader in projects usually involving only one discipline.
  • Provide clients with regular reports on progress at a predetermined schedule.
  • Prepare recommendations for Director and Section Manager and/or project leader on findings arising from the prescribed testing, analysis, design, or computational tasks that were carried out.
  • Continue to train and develop professionally in the relevant engineering or science discipline. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Selection Criteria

  • Requires as a minimum, bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics, Natural Science, or Computer Science.
  • At a minimum 2-5 years relevant experience at the working level including providing technical advice, guidance, consultation and system design and management services.
  • Preference for candidates with working experience in the following:
    • Experience in system design and management
    • Experience with Oracle database development, administration and maintenance, including familiarity with Oracle Forms and Reports.
    • Familiarity with Linux operating systems installation and administration, and ability to support migration of toolset from current platform to Linux.
    • Prior experience with disaster recovery/business continuity/backup and recovery.
  • A sound understanding of System Administration principles and practices is required.
  • Experience with Solaris system management, including x86 and SPARC platforms using Oracle Solaris 10 and 11, is required to support hardware and OS installations, patching, system backups, and general platform management.
  • Strong understanding of Fortran (F95) is necessary to support with maintenance and troubleshooting of analysis codes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions.
  • High commitment to quality and to providing value to customers.
  • Ability to provide value-added solutions and to consistently deliver projects ahead of schedule and under budget.
  • Able to work in multiple locations including Toronto and client sites across Ontario and Canada.
  • Nuclear Security Clearance is required.
