Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team of HR professionals as an HR Advisor. Reporting to the Director - Compensation & HR Programs, the HR Advisor will:

 

  • Work with assigned client groups as a strategic partner to provide advice, guidance and interpretation of HR policy,
  • guidelines, procedures, processes and data.
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment for client groups, including:
    • Identifying current and prospective staff requirements.
    • Preparing and posting job vacancies.
    • Screening applications and conducting interviews.
    • Issuing offer letters and conducting reference checks.
  • Assist management in collective agreement interpretations and administration. Assist client groups with all aspects of union/management relations.
  • Deliver HR solutions to meet business requirements including serving as single point of contact for client groups while leveraging internal and external HR expertise.
  • Attend client group team meetings.
  • Conduct employee relations activities such as investigations and conflict management and coaching on performance management and discipline.
  • Participate in workforce management activities to support client group staffing and development needs, including recruitment.
  • Develop and deliver communications and/or training for managers and employees on HR initiatives.
  • Provide support to other functional areas such as compensation, benefits, employment equity and other related HR programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline and 3-5 years’ experience directly related to Human Resources.
  • Broad HR experience in a variety of HR disciplines, which may include compensation/reward, organizational development, HR process, inclusion and diversity, employment law, talent management, performance management, employee relations, and occupational health and safety.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Willing to work towards (or has already achieved) CHRP and/or CHRL designation.
  • High level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills in order to work co-operatively with employees, management and union representatives.
