About the Position

  • Department: Human Resources, Recruitment (HR)
  • Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON - Onsite
  • Term Length: 8 months
  • Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $20.78-$25.67 per hour. Please note, the salary information provided is intended to be used as a guideline. Final rate offered will vary upon candidate’s prior co-op/work experience, years of study completed, relevant skills, as well as internal equity considerations.

How You Will Make an Impact 

This opportunity involves responsibilities including but not limited to: 

  • Provide support for recruitment activities such as posting job opportunities, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, following up with applicants, and completing reference checks
  • Assist with pension and benefit related activities as required
  • Support labour relations activities and initiatives including review of both collective agreements and preparation for Company Collective Bargaining as applicable
  • Provide support for new graduate rotational program with set up of program events and recruitment scheduling during semi annual recruitment periods
  • Provide support for student program with coordination set up of events, social media ownership (Student LinkedIn page) and preparation for key recruitment periods
  • Provide administrative support and perform other duties as assigned

 

Specific assignments will vary based on business needs, the skills and experience of the successful applicant and the learning interests they would like to fulfill throughout their co-op term.

 

What You Need to Succeed 

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary, undergraduate Human Resources program, requiring a co-op placement
  • Eligibility for 8-month co-op placement preferred
  • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills in order to work co-operatively with employees, management and union representatives
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and/or a desire to improve upon these skills in a professional business environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Interest and, as applicable, experience in social media recruiting (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.) and campaign writing
  • Strong desire to learn about recruitment best practices and how HR functions in a professional unionized environment
