About the Position
- Department: Information Technology (IT)
- Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON - On-site
- Term Length: 4 or 8 months
- Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $20.78-$25.67 per hour. Please note, the salary information provided is intended to be used as a guideline. Final rate offered will vary upon candidate’s prior co-op/work experience, years of study completed, relevant skills, as well as internal equity considerations.
How You Will Make an Impact
Provide Tier 1 Help Desk support and triage during core business hours. This support includes basic application software support; basic application hardware support; creating defect reports as needed; resolving defect reports as able; providing first level phone support; and opening tickets for support calls.
This opportunity involves responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Triage, technical information gathering, and dispatch of Help Desk support tickets raised by telephone or email
- Provide expertise, hardware/software problem solving and end user support towards the operation of Kinectrics network infrastructure, desktop and notebook computers
- IT Help Desk technical support using remote support tools and in-person and desk-side technical support
- Hands-on troubleshooting and repair of software, configuration, network, and hardware issues
- Other duties as required
What You Need to Succeed
- Currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary, Computer Systems Technology or Information Technology program, requiring a co-op placement
- Proficient in Windows 10, Windows 11, Microsoft Office 2016 and M365 (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Network Administration knowledge (TCP/IP, NAT, DHCP, DNS, IEEE 802.11 Wireless, etc.)
- Experience writing scripts (batch, PowerShell, VBScript, VBA, etc.)
- Basic mobile phone setup and support experience (Android and iPhone)
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, especially for giving technical instruction to non-technical people
- Ability to work and collaborate with others effectively, strong team-work focus
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and to self-teach when presented with new problems to solve
- Demonstrates enthusiastic interest in computer technology and enjoys technological challenges outside of the classroom
