As a co-op student, you will:
- Gain exposure to Kinectrics’ nuclear technologies and receive training in CANDU, radiation safety, innovation management, and expert-led learning sessions.
- Build practical experience, gain expert mentorship, and develop a strong network across the nuclear industry and the broader energy sector.
- Work on real innovation initiatives alongside technical experts and business leaders, including but not limited to Additive Manufacturing (AM), Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning (AI-ML), Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR), smart materials, robotic inspection tools, drones, medical isotopes, nuclear waste management & decommissioning technologies, novel sensor technologies, advanced fission and fusion reactors, and novel testing facilities.
- Get the opportunity to attend technical conferences and industry events.
- Receive priority consideration for future co-op terms, Graduate Trainee and other full-time opportunities.

About the Position
- Term: Winter 2027
- Department: Strategic Growth and Innovation (SG&I)
- Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON - On-site
- Term Length: 8 or 12 months, starting January 2027
- Discipline(s) Required: Engineering, Science, Entrepreneurship, or a related program
- Year of Study: Upper-year undergraduate or Masters/PhD or MBA student preferred
- Salary: $25-$32 per hour. Final rate will reflect relevant experience, completed years of study, skills, and internal equity considerations.
How You Will Make an Impact
You will contribute to the Innovation Hub by:
- Identification and investigation of new technologies with the potential to provide transformative improvements to Kinectrics operations and/or provide new and innovative products/services for our clients.
- Developing technical white papers, market assessments, business cases, and CAPEX inputs that support new product development and commercialization.
- Coordinating and monitoring innovation projects and supporting ideation & roadmap sessions that turn opportunities into actionable plans.
- Supporting innovation-focused proposals, funding applications, IP reviews, and strategic partnerships with operational teams, academia, and industry collaborators.
- Driving Kinectrics' strategic growth through business development, brand-building, market analysis, and the development of growth and competitive differentiation strategies.
What You Need to Succeed
A successful candidate is highly motivated, innovative, and able to manage multiple initiatives with a strong work ethic. They bring sound problem-solving and research skills to develop practical solutions to technical and management challenges, while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Skills/qualifications include:
- Currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary Engineering, Science, Entrepreneurship, Management or related program requiring a co-op placement.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical information.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences, including operational teams, collaborators, and leaders.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI, workflow, or project management tools is an asset.
- Graduate students from the M.Eng., M.A.Sc., Ph.D., and MBA programs who have substantial undergraduate co-op, industry or research work experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
