Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
- Participate in investigations and technical studies related to mechanical, fracture, and corrosion testing on zirconium alloys and other materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare test specimens for testing, including hydriding, preparing machining drawings, and measuring specimen dimensions.
- Set up existing test equipment and data acquisition/control systems to perform required testing.
- Provide support for development of new test facilities.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained in accordance with quality requirements and help to maintain a safe, well-organized work environment.
- Perform post-test metallurgical examinations of tested samples.
- Maintain records of experimental work as per quality assurance requirements.
- Analyze experimental data to assist professional staff in preparing technical reports.
- Interact with supervisory and support staff to ensure that work is completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
- Interact with customers and perform off-site work at utility customer sites.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of work performed. Maintain quality records.
- Must be able to travel to customer site, shift work may be required.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechatronics.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the preparation of drawings using SolidWorks or other relevant 3D CAD software.
- Demonstrated computer skills for data acquisition and analysis.
- Understanding of the mechanics of materials.
- Experience with metallurgical heat treating, chemical handling (WHMIS) and working with high temperature or pressurized systems is considered an asset.
- Understanding of various machining equipment and machining processes is an asset.
- Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with colleagues and customers, technical report preparation, development of laboratory and testing procedures, reporting of testing results, etc.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills to receive and provide information to customers.
- Ability to carry out and document test programs in accordance with established procedures.
- Knowledge and experience with work procedures in nuclear generating stations is an asset.
- A period of 5 years related education and experience is considered necessary to gain the required skills/experience.
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
