Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

Provide nuclear safety and licensing support to clients in the nuclear sector in the area of Decommissioning & Waste Management.  General accountabilities include:

  • Prepare decommissioning related documents, including but not limited to technical guidelines, plans or work packages to support specific decommissioning activities such as decontamination, dismantling, demolition, waste management, etc.
  • Provide support to CANDU plants and other nuclear facilities preparing for decommissioning (stabilization/transition) or to operational CANDU power plants
  • Propose and win orders for advanced, multi-disciplinary projects, programs, or activities.
  • Plan, lead, and/or conduct advanced multi-disciplinary projects, programs, or activities with a view to ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Lead, mentor, coach and train less experienced staff.
  • Outline, assign, and supervise the complex work of intermediate & senior engineers/scientists and/or other technical staff.
  • Manage work with a substantial scope for independent investigation, action and accomplishments of advanced and complex nature, often beyond scope of past practice or precedent and requiring application of mature scientific or engineering knowledge and judgment.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of technical reports suitable for submission to clients and to nuclear regulators and support the client in addressing questions from the regulatory bodies.
  • Other duties as required.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • Minimum of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or equivalent is required. Advanced specialized knowledge and education an asset.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and/or extensive experience in the Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities and Nuclear Waste Management with a minimum 11 years working in the nuclear industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of CANDU nuclear power plant design as well as Canadian regulatory requirements and CSA standards
  • Must be able to work in a project driven environment with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints (time, cost, quality).
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements.
  • Flexible in terms of their willingness to accept evolving assignments as current projects end and new projects begin.
  • The candidate will be recognized by their clients for their professionalism and superior performance, and by their peers for their knowledge, expertise and ability to communicate complicated information in an understandable way.
  • Ability and interest in participating in the development of new lines of business that take advantage of Kinectrics diverse capabilities and knowledge of customer needs and the skills of staff.
  • Able to provide leadership in the strategic development of projects to effectively solve client problems.
