General Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the Reverse Engineering Section Manger, supporting the design and qualification of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components utilized in various safety systems in electrical generating station.
  • Act as a technical resource to Vice President and Service Line Director in managing the preparation of proposals and developing bottom-up cost estimates.
  • Work independently and as part of engineering teams to contribute and prepare electrical schematic, PCB layout, technical evaluations, technical procedures, technical test plans, data analysis, report preparation and report reviews.
  • Apply recognized Project Management methodology to ensure tasks are managed effectively (e.g. managing scope, time, cost, performance, communication, human resources, contracts, materials, risks and quality).
  • Confer with Service Line Director to establish Project Execution Plan, Design Plan and to define duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
  • Assist in procurement engineering activities such as preparing incoming inspections, scope of work, reviewing terms and identifying appropriate risks.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the technical and project management process
  • Evaluate project and lessons learned via post-project review processes
  • Provide feedback to Vice President and Service Line Director regarding teamwork performance
  • Perform duties required to close all project documentation and archive appropriate records
  • Assist in developing proposals for internal/external customers and communicating and coordinating contracts with outside contractors/suppliers when required.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Selection Criteria

  • Requires specialized knowledge of Electrical / Electronic engineering discipline or equivalent normally acquired through completion of 4 years of university plus specialized courses.
  • Master’s in electrical engineering is preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in preferred, or at least eligible.
  • Ability to design and analyze analog based electronics circuits utilized in various instrumentation and control components, such as amplifiers, current alarms, power supplies, digital input and output cards.
  •  
  • Experience in process systems, process skids, and panel fabrication and FAT/commissioning testing is required. Knowledge of ASME Boiler Pressure and Vessel code is considered a mandatory criterion.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CFD analysis for mechanical designs
  • Preparation of project documentation such as FMEA, ITPs, RVTMs, Test Reports, Etc
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing quotes and building bottom-up cost estimates.
  • Experience in managing suppliers/machine shops for part design, assembly and manufacturing for mechanical components
  • Understanding and experience of various project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with CANDU nuclear technology are considered is required.
  • CANDU Outage experience & CANDU Refurbishment Tooling Experience is an asset
  • Technical and Project Management Experience with Skids is required
  • Ability to be granted nuclear site security clearance
  • Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the use of project management software tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with CAD software Altium Designer is an asset
  • Experience managing a crew or project with 5+ direct reports an asset
  • A period of at least 4-6 years in managing projects of medium to high complexity is considered necessary.
