Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine electrical tests, investigations, and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines at client locations as well as Kinectrics facilities in accordance with prescribed technical procedures and Quality standards.
  • Perform lab tests using predominantly standard techniques; provide support in laboratory or field environments by conducting experiments, conducting tests or servicing equipment; quality control.
  • Prepare test setups involving cabling, mechanical work – ducting, wire tray, instrumentation, scaffolding and metering individually and as part of a crew
  • Assist with field commissioning and acceptance testing of electrical power equipment.
  • Assist with and sometimes assemble and maintain equipment, processes, systems and development of test methods.
  • Reading and marking up electrical schematics and single line diagrams using CAD tools
  • Moving equipment and goods needing crane operation and forklift usage
  • Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages
  • Write reports of a predominantly routine nature.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Perform routine processes and duties such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • Electrical Technology Diploma at the community college level or equivalent, preferably Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to travel as needed and flexibility to meet tight deadlines
  • A period of at least 5 years directly related experience in Rotating Machines electrical testing – stator bars – Voltage endurance and thermal cycling testing
  • Requires knowledge of electrical theory and testing standards to understand the requirements for HV testing of rotating machines.
  • Knowledge of electrical control system and ability to create and troubleshoot software programs e.g.: LabVIEW
  • Experience with rotating machine maintenance and testing practices, procedures and standards preferred.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems is a must, and the requirements for performing precision measurements.
  • Basic understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Motor vehicle skill: holding a valid driver’s license that allows for operating motor vehicles independently including commercial vehicles; forklift license is preferred.
  • Craning and rigging experience preferred: ability to operate lifting devices (e.g. scissor lift, work platforms)
  • Ability to exercise judgment and resourcefulness in resolving technical problems
  • Physically fit: ability to move/lift/rearrange heavy items up to 50 lb; standing for extended period, crouching, kneeling etc.
  • General experience operating hand tools such as drill press, saw, grinder, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively both alone and in teams
  • Must be self-motivated, and have strong prioritizing and time management skills; have demonstrated the initiative and ability to make positive contribution to project team
  • Strong written (technical and non-technical) and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Familiarity with ISO17025 and ISO9001 preferred
