Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Kinectrics is seeking a highly energetic individual to lead our Inspection and Maintenance Solutions Business into the next phase of growth and profitability. A proven leader, your passion for quality and winning combined with your entrepreneurial spirit, will see this group surpass the competition and cement our position as number one in the industry.
Leading a growing and profitable business comprised of two sections, Tooling Projects & Engineer and Deployment (CWEST) you will guide a team of 40 plus staff, including several world experts, into a world where quality is paramount, the customer is top priority, and being second is unacceptable. Underpinned by unparallel facilities on a campus of over 400,000 sq ft you will continue to carve out a niche second to none. Through your team of Section Managers, you will be responsible for delivering defined annual revenues from worldwide sales including Canada, USA and Korea. This role includes full profit and loss ownership.
As a recognized expert in the supply of inspection and maintenance tooling for operating and decommissioned commercial nuclear plants you will leverage Kinectrics’ market position for growth. Formulating and executing a strategy is key while maintaining a quality baseline product. This position includes travel both within Ontario and beyond to form strong customer relationship at client sites or while participating and presenting technical papers at conferences.
You will bring to this position a knowledge of engineering design processes as well as both technical and leadership skills in projects related to the supply and manufacturing of nuclear tooling. Critical skills include an Electrical/Mechanical/Systems Engineering degree as well as demonstrated project management and leadership skills in a commercial environment especially focused on increasing throughput in high quality, niche manufacturing and assembly plant, implementing continuous improvement techniques, assuring safe operation and maintaining high quality services.
Accountability Objectives:
- Work with the Executive Team to optimize the Inspection & Maintenance Solutions Business. Putting safety first, you will ensure quality is second to none in every aspect of operations. Operations needs to be underpinned by a strong management team which shares a vision for growth through sound performance.
- Achievement of a stretch profit and loss through delivery of quality products and services.
- Leading the annual budget and business planning process.
- Proactively manage growth through geographic expansion, new product development and capital investment.
- Leveraging relationships with existing and new clients to bring in orders which meet or exceed defined targets. This requires an excellent understanding of nuclear plant configuration and complete nuclear supply chain in order to build relationships with utilities, consulting firms and EPC service providers.
- Seek to grow the scope of the product and service enhancements and ensure that the physical resources (maintained equipment, test facilities etc.) are appropriately up to date. Continuous strengthening of services, products, technology and skills within the service offering. Develop business strategy and ensure it is executed in a timely manner. Work closely with Innovation Team to develop new cutting-edge technologies and integrate into portfolio of products and services.
- Ensure that the business strategy is well developed and based on good market and competitor knowledge. The agreed strategy is to be clearly articulated and communicated.

Leadership:
- Responsible for ensuring safety and fostering a safety conscious culture within division.

- Experience managing work in development laboratory environment and in field setting.

- Demonstrated ability to operate in the role of “consultant engineer” with a demonstrated ability to secure work.
Customer Relationship and Orders:
- Develop relationships with the highest levels of our customer organization and be seen as the industry expert in the field of nuclear tooling.
- Manage developing new service offerings and effective routes to market, including personal sales and developing new business opportunities in line with orders target.
- Lead sales through ensuring timely world class proposal, organize presentations, and client visits. Facilitate the development of training courses and colloquiums/conferences.
- Identify and lead foreign market development priorities.
- Good technical presentation skills and articulating technical terms to highly technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed. Ensure timely reporting to clients and management.
- Ability to negotiate both large and small contracts such that each party leaves feeling as a winner while maximizing Kinectrics return on the commercial deal.
Delivery and Profitability:
- Every product to be delivered right the first time with zero rework, on-budget, on-schedule.
- Ensure effective project management within the division following Kinectrics process and procedures
- Timely input to invoicing and collection processes.
- Meet or exceed team billability, sales, earned revenue and profitability targets.
- Ensure that Kinectrics resources (asset and staff) anticipate the needs of the industry. Responsible for developing work schedule including vacation and overtime approvals.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives; process improvements, and actual implementation of workplace organization.
What You Need to Succeed

- Knowledge of commercial nuclear power plant procurement as related to the supply of safety and non-safety related items.
- Understanding of nuclear quality assurance principles related to tooling.

- Requires experience with mechanical and electrical testing practices, procedures and safety standards.
- Experience running projects with challenging deadlines and tough schedules; experience working with clients from various continents and countries.
- Understanding of project and division profit & loss statements.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Able to effectively work with confidential and sensitive business and employee information (including but not limited to salaries, client details, rates, labour relations matters etc.).
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement in processes and initiate/monitor corrective actions required to improve performance.
