General Accountabilities:


  1. Act as a project leader for Kinectrics dealing with projects in the field of Asset Management within the Power Sector (this includes Transmission, Distribution and Generation).
  2. Act as a technical advisor to the Business Area Director and identify areas of opportunity to increase revenue and profit in the area of Asset Management within the power sector.
  3. Plan and develop proposals including negotiation and administration of contracts, cost estimates, scheduling and resource management.  Responding to the requests of the Business Development Director on time, every time.
  4. Manage customers interface both during business development stage and during projects execution
  5. Supervise and co-ordinate staff who participate in multidisciplinary projects.
  6. Actively market/sell the technology/services of the business to ensure products remains viable and competitive
  7. Participate in workshops and conferences and present high-quality articles for presentation and publication.
  8. Be prepared for work travel depending on the client location.
  9. Maintain expertise in the field of asset management and life cycle planning by participation on national and international organizations, such as IEEE, CIGRE, EUCI, CEATI.

Essential Competencies


  1. Strong customer focus and broad experience for successfully developing new business with transmission and distribution utilities in Canada
  2. Good understanding of utilities business and regulatory environment at different jurisdiction in Canada
  3. Commitment to employer and company’s strategic goals.
  4. Initiative to propose and implement new business ideas in the area of transmission and distribution Asset Management
  5. Ability to work in a team situation and mentor staff to develop their own level of expertise in this area.
  6. Considerable knowledge and experience in project management acquired over the years in order to effectively and rapidly coordinate/lead staff at Kinectrics and customer sites.
  7. Must have up to date knowledge and experience in project management methodologies and tools.
  8. Proven computer skills with a variety of software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  9. Strong oral and written communication skills.


Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications


  1. A four-year university education or equivalent in engineering and economics plus further concentrated experience spanning Asset Management techniques such as risk assessment, health indices, equipment health assessment, economical analysis, capital allocation, performance management and the balance between risk and return.
  2. Working knowledge of the ISO55000 standard and requirements
  3. Strong knowledge in the construction and failure mechanisms of T&D electrical assets such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, arresters, switches, automation, insulated power cables, overhead line conductors and insulators.
  4. Knowledge of maintenance and condition assessment methodologies of T&D electrical assets, i.e. electrical, mechanical, chemical, and material test, as well as applicable acceptance criteria, guides, and standards.
  5. Broad background knowledge of transmission and distribution power systems is preferred.  Preference will be given to a post-graduate qualification and with a utility work background.
  6. Proven ability to analyze large quantities of asset data and information, to generate statistics, determine asset condition, associated risks, and recommend actions.
  7. Familiarity with data management and analysis tools used by asset owners, as well as existing and emerging asset management platforms.
  8. Must have detailed knowledge and demonstrated capabilities in international approaches to utility Asset Management and a demonstrated track record in completing asset management projects within the power sector. 
  9. Maintain up to date knowledge of requirements from regulatory bodies, as well as guidelines and standards related to Asset Management and their applicability to T&D asset owners.
  10. Must have experience in project management ranging in size of up to $1M
  11. Demonstrated ability to operate in the role of “consultant engineer” with a demonstrated ability to secure work.  
  12. A period of 8-10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
