The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate or indirect tax but an interest in learning and working in all areas of tax. Experience or willingness to learn US and international tax.

 

 

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

  • Prepare returns and/or information requests to support Canadian, US and international tax compliance in accordance with federal, provincial/state and local tax laws and regulations.  This includes but is not limited to:
    • Sales and indirect tax
    • Non-resident tax
    • Corporate Income tax
    • Foreign reporting forms
    • Tax elections
  • Assist in tax cash flow budgeting and forecasting.
  • Assist in preparation of internal transfer pricing documentation.
  • Liaise with tax advisors in foreign jurisdictions to ensure all tax-related obligations are met.
  • Track and respond to tax assessments and notices of assessment in a timely manner.
  • Prepare tax provisions and tax account reconciliations under Canadian GAAP (ASPE).
  • Work with internal staff and Senior Tax Manager to prepare Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) claims.
  • Prepare monthly BS tax accounts reconciliations.
  • Conduct tax research and resolve international VAT issues from internal staff for issuing invoices.
  • Utilization of bank-based system to process monthly HST payments.
  • Work with CRA auditors for tax audits.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • Four-year university education or equivalent in accounting.
  • A professional Canadian accounting designation such as CA, CMA, and/or CGA or working towards obtaining designation.
  • Must have excellent computer spreadsheet skills. Demonstrated advanced user of Microsoft Excel and intermediate user of other Microsoft Office software. 
  • 4-6 years of experience working in public accounting or tax department of a multinational company.
  • Experience preparing Canadian or US corporate tax returns and foreign reporting forms, as well as tax provisions under ASPE using the future tax method.
  • Experienced with or willing to learn Canadian and USA sales tax.
  • Experienced with using SAP.
  • Completion or enrollment in CPA In-depth tax program an asset.
